These schemes are on the rise and you can find them almost anywhere, from the telephone pole flyers, to television commercials. These advertisements promise anything from a few bucks made on the side, to instant wealth and quick cash. But one has to ask the obvious question: Do these companies really deliver on their promises?Caution should be exerted when looking into one of these advertisements. Most of these get rich quick plots, and work from home companies are just con artists looking to scam you out of your money. Most of the time you notice too late what has happened, and that these ads have left out some very important facts. They may have left out the fact that you will have to work many many hours to get the job done, and with out pay sometimes too. Some even charge fees which they do not disclose beforehand in their ads. Lying by omission is how most scams get into the business to begin with.An unperceived number of work at home companies require their applicants to spend their own money to place newspaper ads, make photocopies, or buy envelopes, paper, stamps, and other supplies or equip The Death Cycle In Retailing This new century demands that management have adaptive skills working across the generation diversity that exists in today’s workplace. No doubt people are an organization’s most precious asset. Today, unlike any other time in history, that asset is filled with generational diversity. This diversity sits side-by-side, shoulder-to-shoulder, cubicle-to-cubicle and warehouseman to warehouseman. This generational diversity can create tension, mistrust and conflict and negate loyalty to the company in general. The death cycle in retailing is a series of events which, if not caught and corrected in time, will cause the financial demise of the store/business as surely as the sun rises in the East. The death cycle usually starts as a result of buying more merchandise than the Store can sell profitably. As a result of this overbuying there are invoices remaining unpaid, that must be paid before the supplier will deliver again. It is difficult to pick and chose which suppliers will be paid without the unpaid suppliers being aware they are being treated unequally, and my cause the "running stock" suppliers to stop deliveries as they see the business in a crisis. Cash payments on delivery becomes the norm with suppliers as the business no longer is viewed as having any "credit worthiness".This then causes the retailer to borrow money from a bank (if they can) to get current with their resources. At some level of borrowing, the bank will want a personal guarantee from the owner. At this point the business is no longer standing on its own two feet.If this cycle continues, the bank will eventually raise the interest rate since their risk has increased and if there is no improvement, they will discontinue loaning ad How is This Generational Diversity Defined? The most publicized and visible generation grouping of today are the Baby Boomers, born between 1943 and 1965, then we have the Generation Xers, born between 1965 and 1980 and finally we have the Generation Veterans, nearing retirement, born between 1935 and 1942. This generational diversity can create tension, mistrust and conflict and negate loyalty to the company in general.I think it true to say that industrial advertising, the sort that fills the pages of the thousands of technical and semi-technical magazines, is the most neglected of all advertising types. You only have to flick through the pages of publications like Bulk Handling International, or Building Services & Environmental Engineer, for instance, to see that advertisers are nowhere near as clever with their promotional work as are their counterparts at the consumer end of things. This is no reflection on the professionalism of the magazines mentioned. They can only publish the material they receive. What it is a reflection of, however, is the belief held by many industrial advertisers that cleverness and creativity in advertising are luxuries to be indulged in only by those soft mass-media advertisers with all their millions to throw away on fripperies. Many of them also hold the view that advertising is pretty much a waste of time, energy and money. They do it only because their competitors do it and it is therefore expected of them. These are fallacies to end all fallacies; and the result of such thinking is tired, lifeless and unimaginative advertising that sells nobody anything. And I'm sorry to say, too, How is This Generational Diversity Defined? This is not a grammar lesson. It is not enough to do a good job. You must also give the appearances of doing a good job. That is why writing well is so important. Writing well is not an add-on to your job skills. It is a central part of it. Your writing must communicate you doing a good job. Many who read your reports will never meet you. Yet they have powerful influences over your career. Their only vision of you is through your writings.Since only your writings are available to them, the writing must be outstanding. You are outstanding. Your writing must reflect that.Just what are we trying to achieve when we write? The US novelist Robert Stone said it best: "What you're trying to do when you write is to crowd the reader out of his own space and occupy it with yours, in a good cause. You're trying to take over his sensibility and deliver an experience that moves them just from mere information."Writing is thinking on paper. Anyone with a clear logical mind can write well. You have such a mind or you would not be here. Writing well is a three-step process. And you have already mastered the first two:Knowledge.Without knowledge you cannot convince anyone t To add even more challenge to your objectives in Human Resources, consider the workforce born between 1981 and 2000. Many carwashes like to use direct mail and services, which put flyers into envelopes and mail them through the U.S. mail to all the people in a given ZIP code.Generally carwashes will look at the highest income level demographics within the ten-mile radius near their business and concentrate on sending mailings into those areas. Yes, that works. But chances are you are already doing that right?Well, another thing you can do which is very inexpensive and will give you brownie points in the community is to advertise in the local high school football booster schedule, which is given out or sold at high school football games. In fact there are many sports could have these kinds of advertisements and you should consider advertising in all of them if you can.All carwashes should concentrate on word-of-mouth advertising and referrals, as those bring the best customers into your facilities. But you also need to bring in new customers and those who may not be associated with your current customers an To add even more challenge to your objectives in Human Resources, consider the workforce born between 1981 and 2000. They are eager to learn, willing to work, but lack the loyalty the Boomers expect from their employees. The Generation Xers consider the Nexters self-absorbed, spoiled brats. In life, you make your own luck: and when you're looking for the best business opportunity for your particular situation, the same thing holds true. If the ideal business opportunity doesn't just fall straight into your lap (and let's face it, it probably won't) you may just have to go out and create one yourself. Why the best business opportunity could be one that you create for yourselfContrary to what you might read on the Internet, you don't find great business opportunities by paying someone $20 or buying an ebook which guarantees to present you with the best business opportunity you can possibly find. It just doesn't work that way. Unless you have the funds to go out and buy a business which is already successful (and the business acumen to make sure it stays that way) the best business opportunity isn't something that can be bought. You're going to have to get out there and create it for yourself.Do your research and find the best business opportunity in your areaRome wasn't built in a day, and a successful business won't be either. When you're building your business empire, it makes sense to start small. Aim to conquer your town or city before you You might find it helpful to create a portrait of each generation. Study it, understand it, try to learn what they value most. Listen to them. Try to understand the historical events that shaped their lives (Viet Nam, Woodstock, Gulf War, civil rights, birth control, Kent State University, safe water, safe environments). Try to profit from their perspectives and insight. Take advantage of the youthful energetic innocence and the wisdom of the experienced. Things to Be Aware Of Since we are experiencing the most value-diverse workforce this country has every known, traditional thoughts in the area of Human Resources must be challenged. The Xters and Nexters have a completely different mind set and value system than most of the executives in the distribution industry who happen to be Boomers. We can no longer think that this generation should be grateful for the opportunity to work for us. In fact, we may have to consider a hiring bonus. We must temper our expectations of long term loyalty. As one Generation Xer put it, “If you want loyalty, buy a dog.” The Xers and Nexters are much more technically savvy. They carry laptops, are much more mobile and have a different value system.<
