Education and Outsourcing, 2 Ways to Improve your Business. m in starting my own life coaching practice. I also invested in the proper training and resources required to perform my duties as a life coach and run the business.Develop your skills and talents to perfection and outsource what you lack. If you have a talent for writing, become the perfect salesletterwriter and if you don't know how to build a web site let an expert do that for you. By using education and outsourcing all tasks in your business are done well and you stay ahead of your competitors.1. Your Objective and StrategyIf you organize your business you formulate an objective and develop a strategy to reach that objective. You also define the tools that you need to make the strategy work. Like sales letters, budgets, investment in hardware and software, education has to be an integral part of y The self-investment paid off because I was able to create the opportunity I was longing for, which was, to be my own boss. Note that the power to self-invest is only possible if you first recognize your value. 3. Get Out of Your Illusive Comfort Zone and Expand Your Circle Once I recognized my value and self-invested, I then created the opportunities necessary to accelerate the success of my business. I did this by getting out of my illusive comfort zone (self-imposed box) and expanding my circle. One cannot create opportunities while hiding out in a box. Remember this formula: Your Comfort Zone = Waiting for Opportunities Contrary to what you have been told all of your life, opportunity is not going to just knock at your door. If you want to leverage opportunities, you've got to work at it. O.k., we all know that achieving anything in life takes hard work. So, what's the problem? The problem is most of us don't really understand what an opportunity is. We commonly associate opportunity with "luck" and "chance." Luck is defined as, "to gain success or something desirable by chance." Chance is defined as, "the unknown and unpredictable element in happenings that seem to have no assignable cause." Let's think about this for a minute. Do you really think you are going to be successful in life by waiting for "the unknown and unpredictable element in happenings that seem to have no assignable cause?" "No assignable cause" will not bring you success and it won't bring you opportunities either. So, let's better define opportunity so we'll know what we're striving for. A more appropriate definition of opportunity is, "a favorable or advantageous circumstance or combination of circumstances." Once this favorable combination of circumstances presents itself you can strike and take advantage of the opportunity! The biggest mistake most of us make, however, is that we sit back and wait for that favorable combination of circumstances. Stop waiting for opportunities and start creating them! Here are three ways: 1. Recognize Your Value The first step in creating opportunities for oneself is to create the right state of mind. The right state of mind is what will get you from the "waiting stage to the creating stage." To get to this point, I use a saying and it goes like this, "Everyone's sitting on a goldmine." What this means is that each of us has our own unique talents (goldmine) that we can use to create the opportunity to live a more enriched and fulfilled life; however, we must first recognize it. In my case, for example, once I recognized how valuable my contributions were at my previous place of employment, I determined that my talents and skills (goldmine) were too valuable to give to an employer that didn't reward my efforts. I therefore decided to take my goldmine elsewhere and make it work for me personally. Stop waiting for someone to recognize your value and give you the opportunity you deserve. Recognize your own value. It is the first step in creating your own opportunities. 2. Self-invest Once I realized I was sitting on a valuable goldmine, I also realized it would defeat the purpose of waiting on someone else to invest in me. I had the gold, so I therefore had the investing power. So, I decided to invest in myself (superb investment)! My goldmines (talents) include communicating effectively and listening actively. I divested these skills from my job and invested them in starting my own life coaching practice. I also invested in the proper training and resources required to perform my duties as a life coach and run the business. The self-investment paid off because I was able to create the opportunity I was longing for, which was, to be my own boss. Remember this formula: Your Comfort Zone = Waiting for Opportunities Expanding Your Circle = Creating Opportunities Here are two ways to get out of your comfort zone and expand your circle: Be an Opportunity Taker, Not a Risk Taker. Ban the word "risk" from your vocabulary and replace it with "opportunity." When you approach any situation, look for the opportunity that can be gained (let the naysayer worry about the risk). Being an active opportunity taker is certain to get you out of your comfort zone and expand your circle. Make "Failure" Your New Best Friend. You don't have to accept failure, but you must learn from failures in order to be forward thinking and forward moving. Make failure your new best friend and get to know it well so you'll know "what not to do" the next time around. Allowing your failures to defeat you will only keep you in fear of moving out of your comfort zone. What can you do today to create opportunities and accelerate your success? I'm sure you can come up with other practical ways in which to create opportunities. Whatever you do, stop waiting and start creating!
