    Creating Personal Expectations
Many people don't like the idea of goal setting; in fact, just the mere mention of the words makes them cringe. However, there is no doubt that goal setting works. The problem is that most people aren't doing it the right way. I am not going to spend time talking about the many aspects of goal setting--the bottom line is that goal setting works and is an important aspect of the Law of Expectations. If you can help others make goals, it increases their future expectations for themselves. Visualizing themselves reaching their goals also makes achievement of those goals more tangible.Goals must have the power to stretch and inspire, and they must be realistic in the mind of the person being persuaded. Research shows that goals dictate future performance. Conscious goals influence our overall performance. In one study, there was a large difference between asking someone to do their best and helping them set their goals or standard for their performance. It is a general rule of thumb that greater or more difficult goals actually increase performance. The reason for this is that lofty goals set a higher expectation, and, as discussed already, expectations strongly influ

Transform Any Business into a Go-Getting Power House by Working SMART
Probably as well known as SWOT, SMART turns goals, objectives and tasks into concrete deliverables. If there is one key to turning busy, ineffectual organisations into models of streamlined efficiency then this is it.More accurately SMART ought to be SMARRRT. There are at least three equally valid definitions for the 'R'.OK, the 10 second introduction to working smarter:Specific: Be completely clear on the outcome expected of the goal, objective or taskMeasurable: Phrase the statement of what is to be achieved so that the achievement of that outcome can be clearly measured.Achievable: The idea is to clarify and motivate. There is nothing more demoralising than carefully constructed, but utterly impossible, goals.Realistic: Given your current situation: is your goal realistic? Relevant: Is this specific task or goal relevant to the overall aims of the company or plan? Resourced: Are the relevant time, people, facilities and equipment available to deliver the desired outcome?Time bound: Make sure there is a claim time limit on the completion of the activity.Properly applied, SMARRRT transforms your business. An exam
It's now widely accepted that web-site is essential for any kind of business over Internet. However, before embarking on website design - spend some time on planning. Why do you need a web-site ? What are your expectations from it ? What is the target audience ? How do you blend your organizational goals with website goals ?

To help you in your thinking process - here's a checklist of issues and considerations that could be helpful in your planning. This is a general checklist, there may be special issues related to your business. You may add or subtract from this list to construct your own website design plan.

There are essentially four issues - that you should address before starting work on your web-site. These are:

      1. What is the purpose of this web-site or, to put it differently - ask yourself 'What exactly am I expecting from it ?'
      2. What kind of hosting solution should I consider
      3. What will be the content and how to manage it
      4. How to promote the web-site
Purpose of Web-Site Design of web-site is critically dependent on your business goals. Web-sites are used for various purposes, such as:
      • Pure Dissemination of information. For example, web-sites of very large corporations, Newspapers, Government organizations, Educational institutions, Business associations etc
      • Extension of existing services, such as banks using web-sites for on-line transaction processing. Customers can enjoy many services from home without physically visiting bank premises
      • Marketing products and services - where it acts as online brochure. Most companies use web-sites for this purpose
      • Selling Products on-line - where it not only markets products but also acts as store-front for selling products and services, popularly known as e-commerce.
      • Customer service where customers use web-site for troubleshooting, lodging complaints, request information etc. Examples are web-sites of hardware, machinery, equipment manufacturers
      • Facilitating interaction among a group on subjects common to all group members - such as discussion boards, consumer activist forum etc.
Above is merely an illustration - there are many other applications (such as BLOGS) and more will emerge in future. Important point is to decide the purpose of your web-site - which may be one of above or a mixture. A helpful tip is to write the purpose clearly on a piece of paper and discuss it with your design team. Use feedback from your friends, colleagues, technical team and customers to evaluate and if necessary, change your web-site plan. It is better to develop a plan first as mid-course changes are always expensive and time consuming. Hosting Solution for Your Web-Site Web-Site is composed of html files, computer programs, databases, Java Scripts etc. Once this stuff is placed on a special kind of computer called server - your web-site becomes part of World Wide Web (WWW), visible from any part of the world. Such servers are called 'Host' in Internet lingo and the process called hosting. Hosting Solution means zeroing on a suitable server that will host your web-site. Store Fixture Materials
Retail store fixtures come in all shapes, sizes, and materials, so narrowing the search for the right store display fixtures for your retail store might seem daunting. A great way to narrow this search is by first considering the different store fixture materials. When you decide on a material that works well with your design, products, and budget, you can move on from there with a more focused approach. This will also keep your store coordinated with one type of material, rather than cluttering your sales floor with random fixtures of completely different materials. Wood fixtures next to plastic ones, and pressed wood next to metal displays are not usually appealing, so try to keep it simple with the right materials. The main choices of store fixture materials are metal, wood plastic, and conglomerates. Metal fixtures of course come in a large variety of styles and qualities, from custom fixtures to gridwall displays. Years ago, metal fixtures were considered too heavy and over priced, and they were primarily used for large industrial settings. However, the advancement in technology has allowed for the production of lighter products at cheaper prices with many mo

What Does the Point of Diminishing Return Mean?
Advertising, what does the point of diminishing return mean? The point of diminishing return simply means that no matter how much more money you spend on advertising, your gross sales will only increase in small increment, if any at all.Below are some sample budgets for a single product showing how diminishing return can affect your profits and sales.Example 1 Product: Widgets Price: $100.00 Monthly Ad Budget: 2k Monthly Widget Sales: 30 Gross Revenue: $3,000.00 Less Advertising: $2,000.00 Gross Profit: $1,000.00Example 2 Product: Widgets Price: $100.00 Monthly Ad Budget: 3k Monthly Widget Sales: 35 Gross Revenue: $3,500.00 Less Advertising: $3,000.00 Gross Profit: $500.00Example 3 Product: Widgets Price: $100.00 Monthly Ad Budget: 4k Monthly Widget Sales: 40 Gross Revenue: $4,000.00 Less Advertising: $4,000.00 Gross Profit: $0.00The examples above clearly illustrate that sometime spending more money does not necessarily mean making more profit. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that example 1 is clearly the most

Multiple Streams of Income are Hacker Proof
One thing I have learned in internet marketing is you better have more than 1 income stream or you can kiss you butt goodbye.I learned this in a big way about 5 years ago. In 1997 I started learning the ropes of internet marketing and made a few dollars here and there. Wrote a newsletter, wrote a training course. In the old days of SFI I helped develop their flagship product Full Circle Success. I had my ducks in a row. 3 streams of income coming in. My bank account was golden.I few years later I started working with a partner in the lead generation arena. I plunged all my energy into that company and started to let my other stream of income dwindle until they were not even generating enough money to buy a "Big Mac" at McDonalds. I was still flying high until the worse case scenario happened. In one swoop a group of brilliant but hugely mis guided individuals struck our web server hosting facility. They destroyed our database of close to 2 million leads. Our customer database of over 1000 customers and our programming. In the process they also took out the web site and databases of 9 other poor schmucks. Plus these guys were so smart that they started corru

            • While static html files will work perfectly from both kinds of servers, computer programs and databases are largely platform-centric. So, if you are going to use databases and software - better select the platform first.
            • Linux is considered more robust and faster than Windows. Besides, it is far more capital-inexpensive as most databases and software for this platform are available free (called open source in Internet lingo). However, it is easier to find a Windows programmer than Linux, as most teaching schools use Windows. So maintenance cost of Linux software may get higher than that of Windows.
Financial Considerations Apart from selecting hosting platform, you also need to decide the extent of your web-presence - mainly dependent on financial consideration. Based on budget and other considerations - there are essentially three options in your web-presence:
            1. Your web-presence is part of a larger web-site - like a rented room in a building
            2. Hire a Virtual server - like owning an apartment in a high-rise building
            3. Dedicated Server - like owning a house or bungalow
Part of Larger Web-site Like a rented room, in this mode you hire some web-space from a larger web-site (not host). Your internet address (URL in Internet lingo) looks like
            • http://www.large-website.com/your-humble-presence
            • or
            • http://your-humble-presence.large-website.com
The later (also called sub-domain or micro site) is little more prestigious and may suit some businesses. While such web-presence is inexpensive, convenient and maintenance free, it may not suit your purpose in long term for following reasons:
            1. Like rented office, the address is temporary. If large-website.com decides to throw you out or closes down its business - you will have to look for another place and consequently another URL. This could be suicidal as your customer will not be able to locate you and all your money spent on search engine promotion will go down the drain
            2. You will never be able to use business e-mails like sales@your-company.com
            3. There may be severe restrictions on bandwidth usage
There are many other reasons against such web-presence, but the most important is poor cost benefit ratio. This kind of web presence might have been cost effective during initial days of Internet when web-hosting was a costly affair - but is no longer so today. Falling price of web-hosting has made this option mostly redundant. Virtual Server This is perhaps the most popular and cost-effective option today where you enjoy fair amount of independence and a permanent Internet address (URL) for a moderate price. Like apartment in a large mansion - you get space earmarked for you in a server or host along with many others like you. Unlike apartments - you will never lose your Internet address (URL) as domain name remains same even if you change server or hosting provider. You will enjoy almost all facilities that a dedicated server or bungalow owner gets like business e-mail, own programs, databases etc. Your web-site will look and act like independent of anyone though in real
